26-29.8.2024 (good day. best liveset i've seen in my life.)

i think i havent been able to use the word "happy" for quite a long time. since u disappeared.

but today i.e. 29th August 2024, i can say that i'm 'happy'.

firstly i met with jasmine, yuwen and longman regarding a 2-3M scale of music festival that we plan to pitch for govt funding. and the discussion went well, and the whole core team vibe well. personality also kind of good balance i think.

longman is more academic / research / historic, he cares about things having deep meaning, deep research. me on the other hand is more "commercial" or "performance" concerned. I care about how cool-y things are presented to audience. i care about how edgy / "trendy" / enjoyable / inspiring the outcome can be to a wider audience. yuwen is also more on the research / deeper meaning side but he has the visual brain. so he is very compatible with longman. he also has the experimental spirit to try things for visual / theatrical purposes. jasmine, as you probably know well, is an admin expert with strong artistic sense n background. she is also great at project management, budget management and communication with artist ppl. so i think we got a pretty nice team already.

2nd thing i'm very happy about is. i managed to catch the liveset of one of my biggest heroes, Howie Lee, an experimental electronic producer born in Beijing. the entrance fee was just $200, but I got to see 2 outstanding sets plus this Howie's set which i would say is clearly the bestest liveset i have seen in my life. it is that inspiring and important. 8 years ago i started listening to Howie Lee and he was a main influence for my album. He showed me that his cultural roots of the Chinese culture could be presented in a very avant garde and cool way in his music. He is not well known in the mainstream sense but he is definitely one of the most important pioneers in Chinese and Asian's electronic / experimental music scene.

Getting to watch him face to face, at a 2 feet distance, with a perfectly sounding audio system, at a tiny venue (Fringe Club's inside), tgt with a few friends (Yuwen, Longman, voel), was amazing. this would be an unforgetable set. I even chatted a bit with him after his set, telling him he was my 啟蒙 for music and i been listening to him for 8 years. n you know i never take fanboy pics with anyone but i had to take pics with him ><. he is that important to my music journey. im glad to have experienced this perfect set with my top 3 favorite producer.
